Screecher/Code Zero

The Rolly Tasker Sails Code 0 / Screecher, is an ideal reaching sail for cruising yachts and is an essential sail in the racing wardrobe. Combine it with an endless line furler and it’s a very versatile sail that will complement any sail wardrobe.

The name Screecher is multihull term and comes from a combination of Spinnaker and Reacher. A highly versatile sail, in light airs the Screecher/Code 0 is used as an upwind genoa. As the wind increases it becomes a reaching sail and in heavy air, a downwind sail.

When racing the Screecher/Code 0 is a perfect apparent wind speed builder on any course except dead downwind.

On the cruising boat it may well be the only additional sail because the furler makes handling so easy. Although the new Rolly Tasker Code C is proving to be the most popular versatile sail for all short handed and cruising sailors.

Very pleased to report that the Cruising Code Zero you supplied for our Hanse 458 is superb – very pleased with the sail and prompt delivery so thank you for your efforts – it adds a stunning turn of pace to the boat so we’ll be highly recommending this to our future owners.

Much like an Asymmetrical Spinnaker, the Screecher/Code 0 is used to make up for the loss of true downwind direction with high speed by reaching back and forth to get downwind, however it is cut much flatter for less drag and more lift.

Rolly Tasker Screecher/Code 0’s are designed to be used with a furler flown off a bowsprit or in front of the forestay. The sail is rolled around its specially designed antitortion luff rope. The furling-systems comprises of two mechanical components a swivel to which the head of the sail is attached and the drum mechanism which is attached to the bowsprit or bow fitting.
