Storm Jibs are a necessity when sailing offshore in areas with a risk of strong winds and heavy weather. They are also demanded as being part of the sail wardrobe by most international organisations for offshore racing events including Australia. And did you know that Marine insurance premiums can be cheaper if leisure boats carry them on board.
By using Storm Jibs in heavy weather conditions the centre of effort is reduced which means less heeling and better steering. Many cruising sailors purchase a Storm Jib sail one size larger than required so it can double as an inner staysail for use in windy areas.
LUFF HARDWARE
At checkout you will be asked if you require hanks or what size bolt rope you require. We also have optional “soft hanks” designed for use on fibre or dyneema inner forestays.
All sails fitted with a bolt rope will also have additional luff eyelets which can be used as an alternate means of attachment as legislated under the yachting Australia Rules.

FITTED SHEETS
Fitted high visibility orange sheets in the correct diameter and length for your size sail and boat are available out checkout.
SELECTING YOUR NEW STORM JIB
WHAT SIZE DO I REQUIRE?
To save you the effort of calculating the ideal size we have constructed a handy table for easy reference. For example, if you have a 30’ yacht then in referring to the table you will see that a #6 Storm Jib is best for boats 29’ to 32’ in length. It is 5.76m2 in area, is constructed from 8oz Premium US Dacron and has dimensions of – luff: 5.49 Leech: 4.23 and Foot: 2.62.

Storm Jib - A storm jib of area not greater than 5% x (height of the 12 foretriangle (I) 2, and luff maximum length 65% height of the foretriangle.

Our RTS Storm Jibs are built to our top end Premium Offshore specification and, when ordered in solid Dayglo Orange, they also fully meet AYF (Australian Yachting Federation) offshore racing requirements. They come in a wide range of sizes at very competitive prices to suit all yachts and catamarans and are an important addition to your sailing wardrobe whether you are a racer or just intend to cruise offshore in safety.
We can supply your new Storm Jib in plain White Premium US Dacron with a highly visible Dayglo Orange patch on either side of the sail, or for a small additional cost, in full Dayglo Orange, which is an Australian Yachting Federation requirement when racing offshore.
Storm Jibs have the option of brass or stainless steel hanks on the luff, or a luff tape if feeding into a luff slide.
Our RTS Storm Jibs are constructed to the highest specification throughout.

Once we finalise your order with you, delivery is usually about 4 weeks, however it may vary depending on sail size and construction time. At the point of 'online checkout' for your order a freight charge will be calculated based on the median freight cost for Capital Cities and Major Regional Centres. Depending on your location there may be a variation in the actual freight cost, in this situation you will be notified of any adjustment to the cost of shipping your order.

WARRANTY
We warrant your new sails to be free from all defects in material, hardware and workmanship for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase. This excludes any damage from neglect, mishandling or UV damage. If you have any concerns with your new sails, be sure to contact us at your earliest opportunity.

RETURN POLICY
- Due to the nature of our on-line products, our Storm Sails can only be returned if there is a fault with the product.
- All returns must be accompanied by a copy of the original sales receipt. A copy of your online payment form will suffice.
- Merchandise must be in original packaging with all tags and stickers attached.
- Refunds will be granted by online banking transfer into your account within 7 days of receipt.
- Please note that Return Postage of your refund / exchange item is at your cost.
